Our Story
We met online one month pre-Covid lockdowns, on February 19, 2020. We weren’t looking for anything serious but lockdowns had other ideas! Within three weeks of knowing each other we had to decide if we were in each other’s “bubble.” Unlike many couples who spend the early months of their relationship out and about meeting friends and doing activities, we spent all our ‘dates’ sitting across from each other in the living room, talking about everything under the sun and really getting to know each other deeply. We both agree this unconventional start to our relationship is a huge reason we are where we are now. Six (nearly seven!) years later, we have survived a pandemic, built a house, finished a 2-year degree, changed jobs multiple times, travelled the world, and here we are, celebrating our love and accomplishments as a couple. We hope you can join us!

Zubin’s Story
I was born and raised in Calgary and I still feel most at home with the mountains close by. I am a proud dad to two incredible daughters and I am a full-fledged nerd who genuinely loves big ideas and thoughtful conversations. I am equally happy debating who would actually win between Batman and Superman as I am diving into questions about ethics, morality, or how we know what we know. Outside of work, I spend my time honing my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills, reading, and continually trying to find balance between mind, body, and spirit. I have recently developed a strong appreciation for a properly made cortado, and while I may deny having a sweet tooth, the dessert table usually tells a different story.
I find joy in the little things and am at my best in the mountains or with a good book. I find new ideas and activities exciting and intriguing. I grew up figure skating, playing soccer and horseback riding, all of which have given me a strong dose of competitiveness. I definitely have a streak of perfectionism to go with it, both of which now manifest in the personal training Zub and I undertake. :)
Lord of the Rings is my favourite book (and movie), and I have a tattoo in Elvish. I adore my cat Murphy, who lives his best life on my parents’ acreage (he even has his own Instagram (@murphy_the_lion).
I am occasionally political and regularly opinionated. I am strongly lacking in skills when it comes to board games, but enjoy painting, drawing, and reading. I also have a penchant for lemon tarts and dark chocolate, meaning Zub isn’t alone at the dessert table.
